Tournament Information

Ready to get in the game? Please take a moment to review the Volleyball Ventures format and level of play to ensure you get the most out of your tournament day.

Format

• Events are Coed or Men's and Women's Round Robin DRAW, where you play each game with a different partner. (This means you get maximum playtime on the beach, as opposed to traditional double-elimination tournaments).
• Events are either Coed or "Men's and Women's."

Level of Play

• Four Divisions: 1, 2, 3, & 4 (1=Highest, 4=Lowest).
• Players with a CVBA rating should sign up to play Division 1.
• Beginners should sign up for Division 4.
• The VBV Rating System is used to place players in divisions as needed. NOTE: we have retooled the VBV Rating System. Click here for an explanation of the new system.

Sign ups

• Deadline: NOON on the Wednesday prior to the event.
• Late Entries: Entries after the deadline may be put on the Wait List. If you are late sending your entry or want to be wait listed after the deadline, show up early on Saturday morning. Beach sign-ups and check-in opens at 7:30am.
• Coed Tournaments require a Co-Entry, which is a member of the opposite gender, and need not be the same level or division as you are. This is done so hopefully there is an even number of men and women to balance the pools.
• Cancellations received before NOON on Friday will be eligible for refund or future credit.
• No Shows are not eligible for refunds.
• Entry Fee must be received with application.
• Pre-registration entries: $20.00 for VBV members, $30.00 for all others.
• Beach Registration the morning of the event: $40.00 per person (member and non-member).
• You may send one check for multiple entries. Please send a form and waiver for each registrant.

Event Check In

• Beach check-in the morning of the event opens at 7:30 am.
• Deadline for checking-in is 8:00 am SHARP.
• Entrants arriving after 8:00 will placed on the bottom of the Wait List.
• Late arrivals are not guaranteed pool play and are not eligible for refunds.
• All VBV events are scheduled to be played at Manhattan Beach Pier (subject to change by Department of Beaches and Harbors).

Rain Policy

If it is raining at 7:00 am at the event site on the morning of a tournament, the event will be canceled. It may or may not be rescheduled because L.A. County requires that permits be requested several months in advance. Credits or refunds will be given for any event that is canceled.

Directions to Tournaments & Parking

The Volleyball Venture tournaments usually occur at Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach, California. Occasionally they occur at Playa Del Rey or Dockweiler Beach, also in California.
